The Religious Education “K” Program for the 4 and 5 year old children is based on the Our Sunday Visitor curriculum series titled: ALLELU! Early Childhood Program. Each unit of study and the lessons within each unit of study, contribute to a solid Catholic foundation with scripture, prayer, ritual and community life through the following stages: Welcoming, Gathering, Discovering, Exploring and Sending.
For grades 1-8, the Religious Education Program uses the Ignatius Press Series: Faith and Life for grades 1-8. The series focuses on the following doctrine: Grade 1: Our Heavenly Father; Grade 2: Jesus Our Life; Grade 3: Our Life with Jesus; Grade 4: Jesus Our Guide; Grade 5: Credo – I Believe; Grade 6: Following Christ; Grade 7: Life of Grace; and Grade 8: Our Life in the Church.
The Faith and Life student textbook lessons incorporate the four principal components of catechesis: the Creed, the Commandments, the Sacraments and Liturgy, Prayer and Scripture.
In addition to giving a clear and comprehensive presentation of our faith, the student textbook is enriched with artwork, both original and classical. For each grade, there is a specific theme that the curriculum follows; a sequence within the framework of the textbook; and a definite aim that that is defined and based upon the theme and sequence for each grade level.
