In-Parish Ministries at Saint Jerome Parish

MINISTRY NAME DESCRIPTION
Adult Education An opportunity for adults to gather and learn a more about their faith and church. Adult catechesis is offered during Religious Formation on Sundays.  Other offerings occur during Lent and Advent.  Contact Mary Ellen Cassani at the parish office at 781.335.2038 or mcassani@saintjeromeparish.org for more information.
Altar Society This dedicated group maintains a neat and clean altar and sanctuary. Teams of two clean the altar and tabernacle areas as well as the remainder of the sanctuary, vestry, confessionals and baptistery each Friday or Saturday after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Each team is assigned approximately every six weeks. They can always use more hands and people who take pride in the sanctuary and the baptistery, and who love to work close to the Lord. Buildings & Grounds The Buildings and Grounds Committee members are charged with identifying and prioritizing problem areas and evaluating conditions for various buildings, equipment, and yard areas, providing time and talent for repairing and upgrading various equipment, interpreting existing engineering drawings, monitoring progress for completion of tasks and coordination with other parish ministries for buildings and grounds projects.
Daily Rosary The rosary is recited every weekday at Saint Jerome Parish before the 9:00 am Mass starting at about 8:40 am. All are invited to attend and join in the group responses. Come and offer to God through Mary your prayers and petitions.
Flower Ministry Those who create a prayerful environment in the sanctuary to reflect changes in the liturgical seasons. This small group researches needed material and plans,designs, and sets up each liturgical display. The required talents include a strong back and an open, creative attitude. Greeters The greeters are parishioners who extend a warm welcome to everyone entering the church at Sunday Masses. This ministry is essential for the spirit of warmth and welcome for the parish. Each week, or alternating weeks, greeters are assigned to a specific Mass and are occasionally required at special Masses and on holy days. Parish Finance Council This is a group of 8 - 10 professionals selected to advise and assist the Pastor on financial and resource matters. Each is appointed to a three year term which can be extended to a second three year term. The PFC meets six times throughout the year addressing the annual parish and school budgets, risk management, financial strategic planning, capital renovations, repair and replacement issues and other related concerns. They work closely with the Buildings and Grounds Committee to assist in administering physical resources of the parish and the Parish Pastoral Council on policy and planning efforts.
Parish Pastoral Council This is a group of 10 - 12 parishioners selected to advise and assist the Pastor in planning and coordinating the direction and activities of the parish. Each is appointed by the pastor to a three-year term which can be extended to a second three year term. The PPC meets six times throughout the year addressing a number of parish-wide issues such as strategic planning, evaluation and coordination of ministries, goal setting, policy formation, parish special events, and Weymouth Cluster efforts. They assist the Parish Finance Committee with finances and development/fundraising activities. This ministry is required by Vatican law to represent the laity within each parish.
Prayer Groups People who come together as a community, to spend time with our Lord in prayer, sing songs of Praise and Worship, and to let Him work in them to help become more aware of His presence in our lives. They also pray for the individual needs of people, share faith with one another, and pray over people for healing.
